To my dismay, when I saw his room, It was in a total mess. Everything was out of place and very dirty.

This made me remembered the importance of keeping our home clean. This leads me to…

Spring Cleaning Time.

I don’t mean cleaning up your house but your Subscribers List.

If you don’t do it regularly, your business costs will increase and your subscriber’s list response will drop.

So what I would like to do today is to help you to increase your business potential and bring it to the Next Level?

Cleansing Like A Guru

There are 2 things I always do, one often and the other is once a year.

Now let’s talk about what I do often;

‘Providing Value’ is like thanking your subscribers for staying with you. It is also what you NEED to do for your subscribers.

This is to ensure you have a healthy subscriber list. If you are able to constantly provide value in your content, you will have a pool of responsive subscribers.

Give them good stuffs to read about.
Talk to them in your Facebook.
Share interested strategies with them.
Keep them learn new things.

Basically what you should do is to date them.

Just think how you would date a girl and do it to your list.

When you do the above, your list will become RESPONSIVE.

- Response subscribers mean they will click on your links presented to them in your emails.
- They will do what you tell them to do.
- They will buy when you ask them to buy.
- They will comment when you are them to comment.

That’s what we all are aiming for and that’s the goal for every email that you send out.

Before we move on, let’s take a look at this scenario from a subscriber point of view;

When I go online to search for personal development products, I came across this site.

First Look at their squeeze page made me wanted to opt in to find out more.

Once I subscribed to their list, true enough I received the free EBook and it was good content.

I looked at my welcome email and clicked on the link below. I am brought to a totally irrelevant website.

As time goes by, I received more and more emails that are irrelevant to what I am interested in.

And all the emails I received are hard selling emails.

Immediately I unsubscribe to prevent spam from this guy.

As you receive emails at an exponential rate from a list of marketers.

You will start to unsubscribe and won’t even bother reading anymore of those sales emails, INCLUDING YOUR’S.

If you look at this scenario, you will begin to start losing your subscribers.

So what can you do to prevent it from happening?

‘Spring Cleaning’ is the solution to the above issue which should be done Once A Year.

How Do I Know If I Should Unsubscribe?

You will need to tell your subscriber list to Unsubscribe from any or all Marketers that don’t provide them valuable content.

Doing so will make your subscribers focus on you and remove those distraction.

Below are 2 criteria on how to determine if your list should unsubscribe or not.

- Marketers That Sell But ZERO Content provided.
- Marketers that only sent out emails once they have a new product launch.

Tell your subscribers this and they will love you for telling them to stay focus.

If your subscribers remove these distractions, they will all focus on you and your emails.

So send them good stuffs. And not just good stuffs but quality stuffs.

It is so much easier to sell them products once you become their source of content providers.

Start making your subscribers focus on you and your business will grow exponentially.

One of the MOST important rule for any Entrepreneur is to Know Your Customers.

When you know the problems of your customers, it’s like Fortune Telling.

When I am talking about knowing your customers, I am not talking about just knowing their names and email addresses.

I’m referring to knowing and relating to your customers on an emotional level.

Then you better be prepared to know Your Customers better starting from TODAY.

Let’s take a look at Gary the salesman in the story again.

I woke up every morning and started sneezing non-stop for the whole day. This carries on for a very long time.

This is affecting my work and makes me really lethargic. I was shocked to know that even specialist isn’t able to cure my problem.

This went on and I have given up hope until one Saturday. A stranger named Gary appeared.

When I opened the door, he can sense that I am feeling very irritated due to my sinus problem.

He started saying “I’m pretty sure this problem of yours has been troubling you for many years, am I right?”

I started to feel relieve that someone knows what’s wrong with me and given me a solution by saying.

“I understand you are feeling very uncomfortable right now, allow me to do a demonstration of the vacuum cleaner and show you, how it will benefit you greatly.”

Gary didn’t just introduced to me his product, but instead related to me about my problem at hand then stated that this product can help me with my sinus problem.

As the days goes by and I feel so much better as I don’t sneeze at all when I woke up from bed, from there I knew that Gary really helped me a lot.

Imagine this incident happened to you, don’t you feel like someone actually understands the problem you are facing? And helping you solve your problem?

Understanding Your Customers’ Problems

If you can Identify and are able to solve your customers’ problems, it shows that you Understand them in a Deep and Personal way.

Being able to know your customers’ problem tells them Three IMPORTANT things;

1) I understand your issues at hand
2) I know what you want to achieve
3) And I’m going to help you achieve your goal

If I can describe the Pain and Struggles you’re going through in specific detail.

Wouldn’t you believe that I know why you are here and what you want to achieve?

It’s just like fortune telling. When you go to a forture teller and when they looked at your palm, they are able to tell your history without any information from you. And they did it just by looking at the lines in your palm.

Wouldn’t you be amazed everytime they do this.

Once you are able to tell them their frustration, all there is left to do is to offer them the SOLUTION to their problems .

And there is a shortcut to understanding your customers better.

Most people don’t spend much time thinking about their problems. How a single problem may lead to disharmony in their lives.

But let me tell you this, YOU have The Advantage. You may be thinking right now “What Advantage Do I have?”

Do you have subscribers in the niche you are in? Comments in your Blog post? Enquiries to your email?

If you can say YES to One or All of the above, you HAVE an advantage. For those of you who have yet to get started, I urge you guys to get Started NOW.

People that have became your subscribers or following your blog SHOWS that they too are interested in what you are doing or searching for Solutions to their problem.

Now I would Encourage you to give this some serious thoughts;

- What are your customer’s problems?
- What are all the signs of those problems?
- What kind of life they’re living with those problems?
- What emotional feelings are triggered on a regular basis because they have this problem?

If you are having trouble thinking this through, then I would suggest using YOUR Own Experience.

Think about it. You’re in this business for a reason and what was it?

You’ve struggled and overcame many of the conflicts your customer is struggling with right now.

You’ve probably felt many of the same feelings and experienced many of the same emotions that your customer lives with every day.

Keep in mind: A problem you’re struggling with right now may be how you can hit your Target Sales This Year.

Recently I have quite a number of people telling me that they have been swiping my emails and using it as a reference whenever they want to launch a new email campaign.

I feel honoured about it. Especially since my English is one of the subject that I drag about in school.

I even failed most of my English exams. The only subject that I like is Math. Maybe that’s why I like to count money.

So there must be a formula somewhere.

Let me share a secret with you that really makes a difference to my email.

Why am I able to sell so much products just through email itself and why people always buy when I asked them to?

When you know how the formula works, you’ll have this ‘magical’ ability to create cash at the push of a button.

And I have to be clear about this. It has got nothing to do with being a great sales person. I am not a great sales person and I guess I never will.

But ONE thing I’m really good at is Story Telling.

This is basically what differentiate a great selling email from a mediocre email

Why story telling works in email?

Because people buy based on emotions not logic.

Let’s look at some products out there for example.

Chanel handbags – Chanel handbags is one of the most sought after female bags that ladies love. Guess what’s the reason that people buy it?

Because it’s well made? because it’s beautiful? Because it’s a brand that everyone love?

Let me share with you the real reason why every female goes after it.

It’s because of the status and prestige that the bags give them.

Being well made, good quality and beautiful are fine. These are logical thinking.

But people buy because the bags can elevate them to another level of admiration and prestige.

And the same goes to Ferrari.

Does people buy Ferrari because they like Ferrari? Or is it because they enjoy the thrill a Ferrari ride gives them?

If you are able to convey the emotional side of the products, people will bit and become your customers.

But sadly most people always focus on the logical side of the products. And after reading this, you will be one of those rare people who knows that emotional selling is much more powerful than logical selling.

Now that you know how important it is to create that emotional.

Let me show you the exact formula to sell using emails;

Below are the key steps you need to know before using the formula.

1) Identifying features of products
2) Identifying benefits of products
3) Great storytelling

It’s very easy for most people to indentify the features of a products. I am pretty sure everyone can do it.

We will use a Vacuum cleaner as an example.

The main features of a vacuum cleaner are:

- Strong suction power
- Light and mobile

Once you have narrowed down the Key Features of the Product. We will move on to the second part of the Formula

Identifying the benefits of the product.

- Strong suction power allows you to suck up stubborn dirt and dust which remove most germs which gives you a healthy house.

- Light and mobile makes it effortless to carry around the machine so that you can cover more areas in your house and this creates a much cleaner house for you and your family to reside in.

Can you see how benefit works.

Feature is about the factual statement of the product. A benefit answers the question “What’s in it for me?” And usually its results based.

Now that you know the different between features and benefits, let’s move on to storytelling.

And storytelling is the part where you make your prospects connect with you and buy your products.

Here is an example story I can think of right now.

My nose is actually quite sensitive and I sneeze a lot due to my sinus problem. I have seen doctors in regards to this issue.

To my dismay, they are unable to provide me with a cure. I have been living with this problem for more than 30 years and I am very frustrated with it.

As I woke up on a lazy Saturday morning, someone knocked on my door; I am feeling really discomfort at that moment as I am sneezing nonstop.

I walked up to the door and saw a guy selling vacuum cleaners.

At first glance I wasn’t interested in the product at all until he offered to clean up my whole house for free.

I thought to myself “I don’t have to necessary buy the product and since someone is willing to clean up my messy house for free. Why not give it a try.”

He smiled and start vacuuming my house. After 1 hour, he has done vacuuming my house and started to explain the product to me and guess what I said to him? “Sorry I’m not interested”

I went back to my usual lifestyle for a couple of days and I realize that I didn’t sneeze at all since then.

I wondered if I had taken any medication or supplements? But I didn’t see any lying around when I went searching.

When I went out to my living room and opened the windows, I realize my floor is sparkling white.

Its whiter than usual, it looks really clean.

That is when I remembered the vacuum cleaner salesman. could it be the vacuum cleaner that clear up the sinus?

I began to look for the name card he left behind to call him. I looked through the books that are on my table and found a card with the name ‘Gary’ on it.

I called Gary and I started asking him questions.

“May I know what you did at my place?”

Gary replied me confidently “I used a special formula to vacuum your floors, I believe you notice your floors gets cleaner as the day goes by right?”

I replied to him “Why didn’t you tell me on the day itself?”

He smiled “I did tell you about this formula on the day itself but you kept ignoring me and you didn’t look interested.”

I started to feel bad as I have treated him like the other sales person I encounter before.

“Gary, I would like to know more about your vacuum cleaner.”

He went on to explain that the strong suction power in the vacuum allows him to suck up stubborn dirt and dust which remove most germs on the floor which gives you a healthy house.

And because it’s light and mobile, he is able to carry the machine around the house effortlessly so that he can cover more areas in your house and this creates a much cleaner house for me and my family to reside in.

The moment he stopped.

I immediately ask him to send the machine over.

Once I purchased from him, I thank him for being the one that helped me with my Sinus problem and changed my life since then.

This is an example of storytelling, It is more effective if you affect the readers emotional state and not their logical state.

But the mistake most people make is always to blow up the features of their products. And they always go around complaining “The product can’t sell”

Instead of “They can’t sell the products”.

As you can see, I bet you remember the story that I told you more than the features of the products right?

Conveying emotion in a story is a much more powerful way to sell and the wonderful thing is, it doesn’t looks like you are selling at all. Just trying to share a good old story with your audience.

You may now be thinking, most of us may not be a good Story Teller. But I tell you one thing;

Every One is a Great Story Teller.

Here’s why…

I was in the police station earlier to settle the change of address for my wife’s identification card. There is this couple before me lodging a police report.

The sergeant told them to describe the problem and the scenario.

I am listening attentively to the story she is telling to the sergeant and I find it really interesting as she is using actions and describing in full details the event that took place.

This proofs that when you start complaining, you can really describe something in FULL details.

We are good at telling stories even if we did it unknowingly.

We all have this talent in us and it’s up to us to find out how we can draw out this ability by Drawing, Telling or Written but of course it is not limited to these methods.

So start telling more stories in your email and you will see a marked improvement in your results.

It’s that time of the year again.

Time for me to review my achievement in 2012 and my goals for 2013.

Traveling in 2012.

2012 was definitely the year of the travel.

I went to so many countries and garner so many chops in my passport that I have to change a new passport.

Early this year, I went to Korea in Feb for my mini-honeymoon.

Then in May I went to US for 2 weeks for my actual Honeymoon.

In Nov, my wife and I jetted off with a couple friends to Italy.

This is my first trip to Italy and I totally love the shopping there.

Every branded items are like 20-50% cheaper than in Singapore. Here’s our damage.

We went to Milan, Rome, Florence, Vatican and Venice.

In between all these I also went to Bangkok and Vietnam twice. I have traveled to a couple more places but I can’t remember where right now. Haha… I am growing old.

I intend to cut down my traveling in 2013 so that I can spend more time at home relaxing.

Another break thru for this year is that I am in a feature movie.

Even though I have a small cameo appearance, the movie I am in “Ah Boys To Men” just became the best selling local movie ever produced.

I am happy to say that I am a best selling actor : )

On my business side, we doubled our sales for our education business as compared to 2011. I expect 2013 to maintain at the same level and to help more people create a 2nd income through leveraging on the internet.

My online business is still maintaining at 6 figures net profit and this year, I will be adding in another stream of revenue through my traffic business. It is already doing 6-8k per month without any website and products and I expect to hit the 10k mark soon.

I will also be launching a new website in the first quarter after gathering feedbacks from our customers and the type of help they need. I expect this new website to help people start getting results instead of getting struck.

I also have 2 more projects lining up to launch in Jan and these will easily be a 6 figure businesses for me in 2013.

Other than these projects that I am working on, I won’t be taking on more projects in 2013. My aim is always to work less and earn more. There are always multiple revenue in every project and you need to maximize it before moving on to other projects. (Big tip for you)

In the early part of 2012, due to the rental increase, I have decided to purchase my own office and be my own landlord.

In April, we moved into our new beautiful office.

And for 2013, I intend to purchase my dream home. I am still deciding if I should buy a beautiful condo or a nice spacious landed house.

2012 is also the year where I got married. 15th Jan is my customary wedding dinner. 400 guests turn up that wonderful night and everyone was having fun right till 11pm+.

Even til today, everyone was saying our wedding was the best they have ever attended.

That’s a recap of what happened in 2012.

SO WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN IN 2013 AND WHAT’S MY PLAN?

Every year, I created small goals for myself as I didn’t want to overwork and chose to have more fun instead.

But this year it will be slight different as I have decided to work harder.

Why?

I will let you know in a while.

Goals in 2013

- I have set myself a goal of hitting 1 million in nett profits. I have never done this before but I know I can as 2012 wasn’t very far off (I wasted almost 200k on one of my failed project, if not I would have hit my 2012 target).

- Buy my dream house

- Buy 1 or 2 more investment properties to generate passive income

- Chart my new lead generation company to 1 million in sales

- Build my secret online business to 1 million in sales (Sorry can’t reveal this right now)

- Continue to travel to the US and Europe for leisure.

- Be a stay at home dad

The last point is something that I wanted to do as the Lai family is finally going to have a son.

The reason why I am going to work harder this year is because my son will be born in March 2013. I am finally going to be a daddy.

I am going to work hard, put my money into passive income streams so that I can spend more time with my young child.

To me, passive income is income coming in WITHOUT you doing any work (Like dividends from stocks and rental income from property). I still consider internet business as active income and it is definitely one of the best tools to generating cash fast.

So for this year, beside increasing my active income, I am going to put more attention into my passive income (which is hovering around 7k per month). I already have the plan to double it by 2013 and I am really excited about it.

I am doing this so that I can stay at home and spend more time with my son.

HAVE YOU WRITE DOWN YOUR GOALS FOR 2013 YET? SHARE THEM HERE SO THAT I CAN HELP YOU IN ANYWAY THAT I CAN.

If you are running any sort of Net business, you’re clambering for individuals traveling to your site.

Without capturing targeted visitors, there’s no way you’ll get anywhere and you’ll sit there sad and penniless.

If you are like the bulk of the Net marketers, you have to be in a real fight to produce quality traffic.

I know it just makes you want to scratch your eyes out seeing others getting lots of traffic if you are stuck producing nothing?

No matter what you need to do with your traffic, you have to figure out how you are going to acquire it.

And how come you’re still doing nothing.

Okay down to the nitty gritty:

You are chasing after “free traffic” that doesn’t exist. (Umm reality check)

This is the brutal truth. There’s nothing called free lunch. Nothing useful about free traffic.

Sure, there are traffic existence maneuvers that you may utilize to get targeted exposure, without using any cash.

However that doesn’t mean they don’t cost you anything. You still have to pay with time.

Regrettably, if you are utilizing free traffic, you’ll have to wring you hands and see what happens. You might get right kind of leads someday – however it won’t be overnight.

If you are one of those marketers who needs it now, then its better you go get some cash to invest.

However if you have got more time than cash, and are passionate about the idea of spending it to build up your business, then your work is worth it. Down the line, you’ll be satisfied.

How hard you work decides the quality of traffic, and how soon you’ll see it.

The more time you commit toward producing targeted traffic, the earlier you’ll get it.

It’s just horse sense (and you’re smarter than a horse).

The rule is easy: If you wish to go quicker, then you’ll have to put in more time or cash.

There’s no getting around it!

Focus on What’s Working for You.

If you don’t have cash to invest for your traffic, your time is cash. You have to use it right and not waste it.

There are many ways to get free marketing where individuals to visit your web site.

But, not all of them are going to work for you.

And that’s why you ought to experiment with assorted techniques, and stick with the one that’s giving you results so your traffic doesn’t suck.

So in order to keep making some progress, you have to endlessly examine where you are going. And using your time or cash wisely.

Last month, I went to Vegas for the 2nd time (First time was in May) and this time I was there for an interesting mastermind event.

Today, I want to share with you a success story of Desmond Ang.

We actually did an interview with Desmond awhile ago but because of the hectic schedule, I’m only able to roll this one out today. *Forgive me… =’o(

And the reason, why I thought Desmond’s experience would be perfect for today’s blogpost because I’m pretty sure many people would be able to relate to his story.

Desmond is forty years of age and he’s married with two kids.

Like most regular middle-age Singaporean men his age, Desmond has lots of responsibilities to take care of.

- He needs to fetch his kids from school
- Monitor his kids’ progress at school
- Take care of bills
- Put food on the table for his family
- He needs to make sure that his elderly parents are well-taken care off
- Spend time with the family
- Keep his job… etc.

For awhile, Desmond found himself caught in a great dilema… His full-time job.

It was stable and it helped fulfill the needs of an average middle class household.

But he often work up to 10 hours a day.

And he was starting to get sick of it.

He feared that he might end up working for life.

So he started looking for answers and he was open to any opportunities that might present itself.

Then, almost by a stroke of luck or it seems…

Desmond chanced upon an ad in the newspapers that promoted a self-development seminar, which focused on financial freedom.

He attended the seminar and it opened his eyes to a whole new world.

Phrases like, “Passive Income, Residual Income, Work from home, Make money while you sleep”…
are jargons he didn’t quite able to grasps before, but now he understands the need of it.

After 3 days intense Seminar, Desmond’s had a complete shift in mentality.

He had a new goal, to retire young and rich so he can enjoy life and spend more time with his family.

Things are becoming more apparent and he now realizes that he’s in need of a back up plan
more than ever.

Desmond attended an Internet seminar and that’s how he got to know about my program.

I was one of the featured speakers and I was sharing with the audience how easy it is to build a business on the internet and get paid even while they are sleeping.

Anyway, what I am trying to say is that… there’s something really “huge” that I found out about Desmond during the interview.

Desmond is working as a Project Manager in the I.T. industry, but he never knew anything about making money online prior to attending the seminar!

And he didn’t realize that all this while, he’s been helping to make his customers rich but not himself until now.

Now you see, this is just another perfect example of a “myth-buster”.

Doesn’t mean if you’ve been working with computers or the internet for years means you know how to make lots of money from it.

It’s a completely different skill and mindset.

So, Desmond decided to take up my program and what attracted him to it was the fact that he could learn how to send an email and rake in a nasty income out of it.

After the 3 days hands on workshop, Desmond put the strategies he learnt from my program, to the test.

Within less than a week, he got his first sale – a measly $1 sale.

Although it’s not much, but it opened his eyes.

He realized that if he knew how to make $1 from the internet, all he needed to do is to focus on the strategies that worked for him and just repeat it.

Then the following month, he made his first $1000.

And when he continue to send out the email method that we taught him, he hit his highest commission of $811.25 in a day.

The commission he earned is 50% of the affiliate products. If you talk about sales, he should have close double that figure and the sales amount will be $1622 in only 1 day.

And he is using his earning that day to buy a new ipad.

With his new found confident, he continue to send out daily emails and in 10 days time. He hit another jackpot.

$822 commission in a day.

And that was the start to his passive income.

So you probably ask, what’s his winning strategy?

Desmond says, “sending emails and building relationship is the key”… and you need to promote high-end products.

“Work the business consistently… it’s the consistency in your efforts that will bring in results consistently,” he reaffirms.
